Pre-operative Preparation and Loading
Verify Compatibility: Ensure the staple reload (cartridge) is compatible with the stapler handle, as different reloads (30 mm, 45 mm, 60 mm) are used for different tissue thicknesses (e.g., vascular, standard, thick).
Load the Reload Unit (RU):
Ensure the stapler jaws are open.
Align the markings on the cartridge with the shaft.
Push the cartridge onto the shaft and rotate it clockwise until an audible "click" is heard, locking it into place.
Remove Safety Cover: Remove the plastic safety protector (often red or yellow) from the cartridge after it is securely loaded.
Confirm Assembly: The jaws should open/close smoothly, and the green safety button should be engaged.
