A Bandage is a piece of soft material, applied to a part of the body to hold dressing in a place, apply pressure to a part, immobilize a part, obliterate cavities, support an injured area, and check hemorrhages.
Bandages
A bandage is a piece of soft, absorbent material that can be used to hold a dressing in place over a wound, support a splint, immobilise a wounded body part and compress a soft tissue injury.
Though commonly used interchangeably with ‘dressing’, bandages are not intended to be used in direct contact with a wound.
